I am back in LA and therefore doing a lot less riding than I was a week ago when in San Francisco, but the good news is I’m doing much more E-bike writing. 🙂
Last night was a great exercise sourcing together the components necessary to build a 30mph / 20-mile range $1000 E-bike. I got in a forum argument with some guys and they thought it was not plausible. I spent the evening proving on paper that it was in fact possible.
I damn near talked myself into building that $1k bike yesterday, ordering all components and then going for it…but I already have enough E-bikes laying around, and f0r sure I do not want to store another one.
But I do think that it would be cool to have a $1000 bench-mark bike around to compare against commercially available bikes when I test them…it would be cool if the $1k bike beat the pants off some $8k commercially available ebikes which I think it would.
Check out the $1000 30mph / 2o-mile range ebike story here:
Also published my favorite story ever on this site which is the Specialized Super Charged Racer. That is one nice ebike.
